this morning #1699.
this morning, one of the guys i now supervise pulled me aside. hal. one of the quieter members of my team. nerdy little fella who’s been working for company longer than i have. definitely older than me. a serious look fell across his face. deep breath. then he let it out. “please don’t take this the wrong way but…how come they promoted you?” that’s a valid question, hal. i’ve asked myself that very same thing. “the boss didn’t say. i guess i do good work.” he smirked & his motive was revealed. “that’s true. you do. but i do too. have been for two decades now.” nice. the senior guy on my team is ready to rebel. “well, hal. i’m just doing my job. just like you. i think we’ll make a heck of a team.” i heard those words and inside i puked.
