this morning #1552.
this morning, i drove around for a while. ended up at a diner. grabbed a corner booth & sat stunned with an endless cup of coffee & a stack of untouched pancakes. waited for my appetite to arrive but it never came so they slowly got cold. tried taking a few bites. came to find that it only made me sick. defeated, i threw down two tens & walked out. decided to drive to the neighbor’s place to deliver the news. arrived & before i exited the car, he had exited his house with a look that said “i’ve been expecting you.” i must’ve looked like i needed a hug because before i knew it, he’d given me one. we headed inside. i sat at his kitchen table & he sat down with me. over a tall glass of iced tea, i brought him up to speed.
