this morning, the dew hanging in the air eventually escalated into a full rain & began coming down hard, sprinkling an extra layer of relief onto the smoldering remnants of their home. the last of the cop cars made its way down the driveway & drove off, leaving behind a silent scene of destruction. arson. weeks from now, that’d be the official ruling. at the moment though, the owners of the home were just glad that the whole family, grandma & the cats included, had made it out unscathed. the man living next door told us that this now-homeless family was fairly new to town. moved in last year. kept to themselves. then he asked if we wanted to come inside & hear more about them. we definitely did.
