this morning #1673.
this morning, the plan was for a few of us to drive about an hour north & go hiking near the lake. when my alarm jolted me awake, i was not ready to get up. the battle began. going for a hike was my idea. a couple weeks back, we were out having drinks & started waxing nostalgic about a few summers ago when it seemed like we were in the woods every weekend. i used to be in much better shape. got fixated on that & out of shame for the loss of my physique, i suggested today’s hike. nothing about my body had changed but now he was conspiring with my mind to talk me out of going. they made a great case for a day in bed. i ignored their pleas but up until we actually got to the lake, thought this hike might be a mistake.
