this morning #1565.
this morning, i’d headed to school mostly focused on what i had planned for the evening. after dinner, dad said he’d take me out to the parking lot behind the abandoned mall & give me my first driving lesson. my license was still about a year away but i’d talked him into letting me get a jump on things. when the final bell of the day rang, i hurried straight home so i could have a little bit of private time before anyone else gets home. time to rub one out, if you will. when i got back home, i was quite surprised to find my mom’s car parked in the driveway—a sure sign that something’s up. i went inside & saw her pacing back & forth in the kitchen, explaining to someone that we’d “been robbed.” then she said it: “the statue’s gone.”
