this morning #1534.
this morning, after not hearing from my detective buddy for a few days, i decided to give him a ring. see how the investigation was going. see if he had any new leads on the arson. when i’d handed everything off to him, things had seemed promising. instead, when i asked, he seemed taken by surprise, as if the arson was the furthest thing from his mind. i thought that he might tell me how the evidence had led them to a suspect. nope. he just went on & on about the man whose house had burned down. he mostly spoke about him selling guns. nothing about the fire. it obviously wasn’t top of mind. i questioned this. he said not to worry. he’d “get to it.” said he had another call coming in. said we should grab a pint real soon.
