this morning, there was no way that any of the folks currently standing inside a suburban shed with their hands up could’ve known that, later in the day, they’d be staring down the barrel of a gun. the man holding said gun wasn’t even sure that he knew how to use it. he’d purchased it a few homes ago, when the family lived in a much seedier location. in the distance between the man & the intruders lay a pile of pawed-over nazi memorabilia. the first question out of the man’s mouth was “what do you people think you’re doing on my property?” none of the intruders had an answer at the ready, so they pivoted to asking him to put the gun down. he told them to back up & repeated his question.
